RB – Rishi Bridge is an online academy with a focus on mathematics, mind, students’ and teachers’ guidance and growth. After several thousand of instructional hours – workshops, seminars, lectures, classes and tutorials – both individual or groups, face to face or online, with great career achievements and positive feedback of our former students, I feel confident in helping any student who struggles with mathematics and wish to improve or who desires to satisfy the curiosity, develop creative thinking and explore deeper levels of this impeccable and universal language.

Why Rishi? The Hindi word “RISHI” is a term for an accomplished and enlightened person. Rishis are regarded as sages, profoundly wise seers and humble observers. They are endowed with profound morals and insightful knowledge and deep understanding of not only academics, but of their own being, who practice self-cultivation, bringing humility, virtue, love and calmness among the people. This is what I like my students aspire to do in addition to deep understanding of mathematics and appreciation of its usefulness, applications and beauty.

Why Bridge? In 2017, I have ended up in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, living in the tiny village of Rishikesh, a most tranquil place, surrounded by hills, located where the wide Ganga River comes down from the Himalayas. To reach narrow streets of the village, sacred Ganga must be crossed by a long suspension bridge. During my time there, I have grasped many things outside of my primary area of interest – logic, analytics, ratio and mathematics. I have learnt many new things about myself, my mind, my own being. I started to see why I need to involve other half of my being into my Life; a half which desires to create, to feel, to love and to accept things outside of the right-angled grid of my rational brain. I began to understand why I need to balance both rational as well as emotional mind.

I always felt that my role is to show my students that mathematics is a very unique tool. However, during my time in Himalayas I seized an idea that with the right techniques we can understand not only academic side of pure mathematics, which surely is useful, but by learning mathematics holistically we can go much deeper – gaining very useful transferrable skills, practicing our awareness, observing what is happening around us as well as in our minds, honing so our focus and understanding our emotions. These will be tremendously useful skills even more so with the widespread of the technology and upcoming automatization. Then we can maintain rationality and emotions in harmony, striving to understand what our gifts are, by using which we can fulfill our tasks in Life with peace, joy and live a meaningful existence.

So, why Rishi Bridge? I crossed that long, iconic suspension bridge above the Ganga River in Rishikesh just to find a place where I simplified my Life and learnt several easy techniques for improving our focus, deepening our awareness and calming our minds – things that can greatly contribute to academic success and to gaining deep understanding of what we study. I started to see, that through teaching mathematics I can share universal techniques with my students as well. I also understood that peace, which we all desire, truly comes from within our own minds.

As a diminutive nickname of Slovak version of my name is Rishik, this combined into a name of my own academy for students and teachers desiring to develop and maintain a growth mindset. While we teach or learn mathematics, we can use it as one of the tools towards exploring our own minds. The simple techniques I developed are all based on my personal experience and tried by many of my students, while backed up by the most current research in psychology, neuroscience and drew on old wisdom of many eastern philosophies. Considering the observable changes in the mindsets and achievements of many of my students of different age, cultures or background from variety of countries along with their positive feedback, it seems natural that I desire to share it with even more youngsters, who long for the meaning.  I wish they do keep the two banks of Life river – rational & emotional – connected and in balance, while they start to see the beauty of Life, to feel the appreciation for Life and to understand their own Life as a profoundly wise and humble Rishi. That’s why: RISHI BRIDGE.
